Backup Guide.

Because your data lives on your device, you stay in control of your backups. Here's how to export, restore, and protect your records.

Export a Local Backup

  1. 1Open Expense Lite and go to Settings.
  2. 2Tap Backup & Restore, then Export.
  3. 3Choose a location on your device and save the backup file.

Import / Restore a Backup

  1. 1Go to Settings → Backup & Restore.
  2. 2Tap Import and select your saved backup file.
  3. 3Confirm to restore your transactions, budgets, and settings.

Google Drive Backup

  1. 1In Backup & Restore, choose Back up to Google Drive.
  2. 2Sign in to your own Google account when prompted.
  3. 3Your backup file is uploaded to your personal Drive — only you control it.

Restore on a New Device

  1. 1Install Expense Lite on the new device.
  2. 2Open Backup & Restore and choose Import or Restore from Google Drive.
  3. 3Select your backup file to bring everything across.

Backup Best Practices

  • Back up regularly — at least monthly, or after major changes.
  • Keep a copy somewhere you control, such as your own Google Drive.
  • Always create a fresh backup before changing or resetting your device.
  • Verify a restore occasionally so you know your backup works.
